The latest Google Chrome OS update includes support for 802.1X secure WiFi protocol which enables connections to secure WiFi providers, among other features. The update also adds support for Citrix virtualization and VPN, and it's goal is increase the appeal of Chromebook devices for the enterprise market.

The platform offers VPN support for users to connect remotely to corporate networks securely, and now includes the Citrix Receiver add-on. This feature enables businesses to convert a Windows PC and apps to a web app which is remotely accessible to employees. This capability can reduce the complexity of IT networks without the need to install a client side application. Google has also added app for the popular Kindle e-reader from Amazon and the Netflix streaming movie service. According to the company, VPN and secure WiFi were the top requests from their enterprise customers.
