Stock trading tools for day traders include a few basic tools and services that are accessible to almost anyone with broadband wireless networks. A computer with fast, reliable internet access is essential, and so is a telephone. An account with a direct access brokerage is another requirement, along with access to real time data, which is often provided by your broker.

A laptop computer with a large high-resolution screen, running Windows XP or higher is recommended. In terms of Internet access, you should have ADSL with at least 128 Kbps up and 256 Kbps down, with no restrictions on connection time or traffic. Full Internet access from your mobile phone is also useful as a backup in case your main connection were to go down. Your mobile phone can also serve as your primary telephone for day trading, and the preferred brokerage for many day traders is Interactive Brokers.

The European Commission has ordered Hungary and Spain to ensure that the 900MHz radio frequency band is available for services such as mobile Internet and wireless Internet service for radio. The countries have two months to comply with the Commission's request, or they could be referred to the European Court of Justice which can impose fines for non-compliance.

European member states were supposed to open the 900MHz band last year to more advanced access technologies like Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). This is an important step in the EC efforts to promote rapid and widespread roll-out of wireless broadband services. The Commission has also taken France and Spain and Hungary to the European Court of Justice over taxes on mobile phone operators and telecoms. Hungary introduced a special tax on electronic communication companies in October 2010, while France and Spain introduced .9% taxes on operators in 2009.

Towerstream operates the largest NYC WiFi network, and the company is taking a new approach to free WiFi promotions. With over 1,000 hot spots in Manhattan, Towerstream has decided to devote part of their network to free access with a catch like most other wifi providers. That is, the company will try to tempt user into downloading the app of the day via BlisMobile in exchange for 4 hours of free WiFi. They are also renting out portions of their network to daily deal sites, and users who take advantage of the Daily Deal could also get free WiFi as a bonus.

Towerstream will still charge companies for their sponsorship on the WiFi access points on a given day. The company will be devoting one of its nine WiFi channels to this purpose, with the ultimate goal of creating the largest WiFi network in the country.
